Lockerly Arboretum:

Education at Lockerly Arboretum The Arboretum, home to over 3,000 kinds of plants from around the world, is a fifty acre living museum with outdoor and indoor classrooms. Situated on the south side of Milledgeville, the Arboretum has hiking and driving trails throughout the property along with tropical and desert greenhouses. The Arboretum offers customized field studies for school groups of all ages focusing on horticulture, geology, life science and environmental studies correlated with the Georgia Performance Standards.

The Worley Environmental Education Center:

The Worley Center in Putnam County is nestled on a beautiful two hundred acres intersected by Rooty Creek. With woods, several ponds, two small streams, and Rooty Creek, there are lots of ideal spots to study water ecology, life science, geology, ecology, forestry and we can integrate math and history into most lessons. All of our field studies are customized to best meet the needs of teachers and students. The Worley Center is an ideal location for studying life in the wild, and also has indoor classroom and lab space.

Oconee River Property:

The Wilkinson County property encompasses seventy-five (75) acres of high ground and wetland on the Oconee River. The property is subject to wet lands mitigation restrictions; therefore, it is and will remain a natural, primitive area perfect for advanced studies and research.

General Program Information

  • Lockerly does not charge tuition fees for educational programs; however,supply charges may be applicable
  • Unless other wise indicated, Lockerly does not provide lunches or meals
  • Program schedules and registration are on a first come first serve basis
